ADHD Testing

ADHD Testing

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, commonly known as ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects approximately 8% of children and 2.5% of adults worldwide. It is characterized by difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which can significantly impact an individual's daily life. Many people with ADHD struggle with completing tasks, organizing their thoughts, and staying focused, which can lead to academic, social, and occupational difficulties. Unfortunately, there are often delays when trying to schedule a formal psychological evaluation to assess ADHD symptoms and sometimes it can take several months to be seen and finally receive treatment.

If you believe that you or a loved one may have ADHD, no need to worry. We are able to reduce the time to ADHD diagnosis which allows patients to receive earlier intervention and treatment. At Amethyst Holistic Health, we offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for ADHD using FDA-cleared QbTest technology, right from the comfort of your home!

Our dual-board certified nurse practitioner at Amethyst Holistic Health understands the importance of accurate and timely diagnosis for ADHD. That's why we utilize QbTest, one of the widest FDA-cleared objective tests for both diagnosis and treatment management of ADHD for patients ages 6-60. QbTest objectively assesses the three core symptoms identified in the DSM-5 criteria for the diagnosis of ADHD including hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention. This innovative technology allows us to objectively measure and assess ADHD symptoms by utilizing facial tracking technology to measure activity, sustained attention, and impulsivity throughout the duration of the test as well as the test adjusting to each patient's age and birth gender to compare these test results against a group of normally developing (neurotypical) individuals and individuals with a clinical diagnosis of ADHD. Therefore, QbTest is able to providing a more accurate diagnosis in comparison to traditional methods which primarily rely on subjective ratings. Also, QbTest uses evidence-based technology that has the ability to monitor treatment response that is not reflected by rating scales. When using QbTest to monitor treatment response, we are able to ensure that our patients receive the most effective and individually tailored treatment plans. At Amethyst Holistic Health, we are committed to helping individuals with ADHD live their best lives by providing comprehensive and accurate diagnostic evaluations using the latest technology.

  • Early detection and diagnosis of ADHD can lead to better management and treatment options.

  • ADHD can significantly impact a person's daily life, including academic and occupational performance, relationships, and overall well-being.

  • It is crucial to rule out other possible causes for symptoms, such as learning disabilities or anxiety, which may require different treatment approaches.

  • Untreated ADHD can lead to long-term consequences, such as difficulty maintaining employment, substance abuse, and relationship problems.

  • ADHD testing can provide a deeper understanding of an individual's strengths and weaknesses, helping them develop coping strategies and accommodations for their symptoms.

  • Identifying ADHD can also help individuals gain access to accommodations and support in educational settings, such as extra time on exams or a quieter workspace.

  • For children with ADHD, early intervention can improve social skills, academic performance, and overall behavior.

  • Adults with undiagnosed ADHD may struggle with time management, organization, and impulsivity, making it difficult to maintain a job or meet responsibilities.

  • ADHD testing can also provide a sense of validation and relief for individuals who have been struggling with symptoms for years without understanding why.

  • It is essential to consider ADHD testing if you or your loved one is experiencing symptoms that significantly impact daily life, such as difficulty focusing, impulsivity, hyperactivity, or forgetfulness.

A diagnostic assessment for ADHD involves three main parts: gathering a clinical history from you during your initial psychiatric evaluation and interview with the provider, an objective measurement of symptoms remotely via QbTest, and the completion of one or more subjective rating scales aligned with the DSM-5 criteria for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

What you can expect:

• Testing involves a 15 to 20 minute, nonverbal, computer-based task.

• The task measures your attention level and impulse control.

• While taking the task, movements are measured to determine if hyperactivity is present.

• Results are compared to an age and birth sex matched group.

• With the information from your clinical interview and rating scale(s), the provider will interpret your results to determine if you qualify for an ADHD diagnosis.

• If an ADHD diagnosis is indicated, our practice may then conduct QbTest remote ADHD testing after treatment is initiated to measure your response to treatment.
